After a year off, the Shasta Service Guild is back this year with their 40th Mother’s Day event, featuring the all new “Old Shasta Music and Art Festival.” The event is scheduled – when else? – Mother’s Day, May 12th at the Shasta Service Guild’s new home: Shasta Middle Creek Mining Camp, located on Middle Creek Road just off Hwy 299W in Old Shasta. In addition to Artisans, “Horse Traders,” and Food & Drink, this year’s event includes a full day of music for their Festival in the Forest, featuring the Jim Dyar Band (5pm), Wild Bill & The Mudwhompers (3pm), the Lou White Band (1pm), and Manzanita (11am). Tickets are $10 in advance (plus $1.50 Cascade service charge), or $15 at the gate. Please Note: Parking is limited and is $3 on site. Hiking or using a bike or car-pooling is encouraged. Proceeds from this event benefit the Shasta Service Guild’s Mining Camp endeavors. In the 1800s, miners from all over the world ventured into Shasta-Middle Creek Mining District. To capture the spirit and color of that time, the Shasta Service Guild is encouraging everyone to wear clothing to fit the spirit of the Legendary Old West.
